PROCESS > What is a 'process starter'?

The Process Starter is the person who starts the task, ie. the person who clicks Launch Process. 

When you choose your assignees, under the Assign tab of the specific task, there is an option for Process Starter. This is the default.

When you select Process Starter, the person who Launches the process will automatically be assigned to those tasks. The Process Starter can also edit the assignee at the start of the process.
